OTTAWA, ON (October 12, 2023) – There’s a new award coming to the Canadian trucking industry that will recognize positive contributions to local communities and general social good.

The award, called the T4C Achievement of Excellence for Community Engagement, adds another achievement to the current roster of Trucking HR Canada’s prestigious Top Fleet Employer awards and Achievements of Excellence that recognize outstanding HR practices in the industry. The award will be given out for the first time in 2024 at Trucking HR Canada’s annual Top Fleet Awards gala held in Toronto.

Trucking HR Canada (THRC) and the Trucks for Change Network (T4C) worked together to develop the new award that will recognize an organization that is a positive and active social force and whose corporate values emphasize partnerships that benefit the community.  The award is open to organizations that are part of the Top Fleet Employers program. Fleets will be evaluated based on their ability to demonstrate community commitment and evidence of employer-supported outreach work, as well as activities that encourage employees to participate in charitable activities in their communities. Fleets do not have to be affiliated with the Trucks for Change Network to receive the award.

“Caring for the community and engaging employees in charitable activities is an integral part of what makes an organization a desirable place to work,“ says Angela Splinter, CEO, Trucking HR Canada. “We’re proud to partner with T4C on this new award that will celebrate and recognize organizations making positive contributions across Canada.”

“Trucks for Change has been facilitating positive contributions to our communities since 2011,” says Trucks for Change Network, board chair, Scott Smith. “We are thrilled to sponsor an award that recognizes Canadian trucking companies that are actively engaged in community giving”.

The new award was announced today at the Trucks for Change Network 10th Partner Appreciation Luncheon where network fleets and charity partners celebrated over a decade of collaboration having a positive impact on families across the country.

Top Fleet Employers already prioritize social responsibility and are committed to being a positive force in society. This award will raise awareness of the important causes that transportation and logistics companies support and spotlight the difference they are making in communities.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Top Fleet Employers program. The deadline to apply is February 2, 2024. Trucking HR Canada encourages you to apply if you can prove your fleet has what it takes to be a Top Fleet Employer. Click here to learn more.
