Trucks for Change Volunteers Help Build Brighter Futures for Winnipeg Families with Habitat for Humanity

photo collage of works volunteering(TORONTO: September 30, 2025) – With hammers in hand and a shared purpose, volunteers—backed by their community-minded carrier and supplier employers—banded together to form a Trucks for Change (T4C) team in support of Habitat for Humanity Manitoba.

Last Thursday, ten volunteers from four partner organizations donated their time, skills, and energy to advance construction on Habitat Manitoba’s largest-ever development in its 35-year history. This ambitious project will see the completion of 55 three- to five-bedroom townhouse units, providing safe, efficient, and affordable housing for approximately 275 individuals—including 175 children.

“Our industry contributes to the Winnipeg community in one way or another every single day,” said Brent Arnold, Director Corporate Development at Arnold Bros. Transport and member of the board of directors with Trucks for Change. “This opportunity to gather with industry peers to construct affordable shelter for working families is yet another way that the Manitoba trucking industry can pull together to make Winnipeg a stronger community”.

“Our members and staff were proud to participate in this initiative alongside Trucks for Change and Habitat for Humanity,” said Aaron Dolyniuk, Executive Director, Manitoba Trucking Association. “Their dedication to supporting local communities reflects the values at the heart of our industry.”

“This event reaffirms our board’s commitment to expanding the reach of our charitable efforts across Canada,” said Betsy Sharples, Executive Director of Trucks for Change Network. “This year’s Habitat build in Winnipeg served as a powerful demonstration of T4C’s collective ability to highlight the trucking industry’s dedication to supporting communities nationwide. With the invaluable support of the MTA, this initiative served as a successful pilot—establishing a solid foundation for future community-driven efforts across the country.”

Teams from Arnold Bros. Transportation, Bridgestone Canada, the Manitoba Trucking Association, and Payne Transportation came together under a clear blue sky to pay it forward—gaining while gaining hands-on experience while making a meaningful impact in the community.

Habitat For Humanity’s home-building program empowers lower-income, working families by providing access to safe and affordable housing, helping to foster long-term strength, stability, and self-reliance.
