(TORONTO: November 3, 2025) — Team spirit was in overdrive last week as volunteers from across the Trucks for Change Network (T4C) rolled up their sleeves at Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank for another Food Sort Challenge — a fast-paced, high-energy showdown with a heart.
70 participants from T4C transportation companies and sponsors sorted an incredible 25,692 meals in under three hours, smashing last year’s total by over 4,000 meals.
Executive Director Betsy Sharples was thrilled with the level of participation and enthusiasm. “Our network members play an indispensable role in tackling hunger by trucking food to food banks across the country,” she says. “The Food Sort Challenge is our way of saying thanks — it’s about giving back, building connections, and having a great time while making a real difference.”
The volunteer teams represented a strong lineup of industry supporters: Abrams Towing Service, Eassons Transportation Group, Erb Transport, International Motors Canada, JD Smith Logistics Solutions, Kriska Transportation Group, Left Lane Associates, Northbridge Insurance, OTA Next Generation, PMTC Young Leaders, Polaris Transportation, Tandet, Thomson Terminals, and Volvo Trucks Canada.
Their collective effort couldn’t come at a more critical time. Food bank reliance in Canada has surged to record highs, with Toronto’s food banks seeing 4.1 million visits in 2024 — a staggering 340% increase since 2019.
While transporting food for charity partners remains at the core of Trucks for Change’s mission, the network is equally committed to hands-on volunteering, team-building, and community engagement — helping organizations like Daily Bread expand their impact and reach more families in need.
