2nd Annual “Charity Food Sort Challenge” a Win for our Communities!

On November 16th, Trucks For Change held our second annual Food Sort Challenge in support of Toronto’s Daily Bread Food BankOn November 16th, Trucks For Change held our second annual Food Sort Challenge in support of Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank.   Teams from eight carriers and industry trades participated by donating their time, sweat equity, and monetary contributions to the cause, all while showcasing our industry’s commitment to our communities.

The challenge… be the first team to sort through 4,000 lbs of donated food in 90 minutes. The team with the most total weight sorted wins, and this year, it was Team Bison Transport (pictured above). In the end, the Food Bank and the people in our communities are the winners. The teams collectively sorted more than 32,000 lbs of food and donated over $22,000 in team and individual contributions —with all proceeds going to the Daily Bread Food Bank.

Thank you to all participating teams for the sweat, camaraderie, and spirit you brought to the event — everyone certainly gave it their all!  (In alphabetical order) Team Bison Transport, Team J.D. Smith and Sons, Team Manitoulin Transport, Team Midland Transport, Team Midland Sales and Operations, Team Navistar, Team Newcom, and Team Trailer Wizards

As well, a thank you to our friends at Newcom Business Media for the photography, media coverage, and this wonderful video of the event.

The Food Sort Challenge was such a success, we are inviting all carriers and trades to take part in 2017.   To participate, please contact Trucks For Change at betsy@trucksforchange.org and join the fun.
