Trucking Industry Responds to B.C. Wildfires

wildfires in british columbia

On July 7, dry and severe weather caused wildfires to spread quickly throughout British Columbia. The threat of fires has forced more than 46,000 people from their homes.

Trucks For Change Network and BC Trucking Association are working together to coordinate logistical support to assist the Canadian Red Cross BC Wildfires Response. Already, many Canadian Trucking Alliance and BC Trucking Association highway carriers have provided donated and reduced-rate trucking and warehousing of cots, blankets and comfort kits, and water to support evacuees at 13 reception centers in Prince George, Kamloops, Kelowna, Vernon and other communities.

Carriers wishing to transport emergency relief supplies or donate equipment or materials to help affected families should contact T4C’s Pete Dalmazzi via email at betsy@trucksforchange.org or by phone at 905 844 8658.

Additionally, Trucks for Change Network has created a special web donation portal through the Red Cross (click here) for anyone in the trucking industry who would like to make a financial contribution. All donations made through this portal will be directed to the Red Cross BC Fires Appeal.
